July, One of the Busiest of the Year
Deep into the dog days of summer in DC, OFII and its members continue to plug away on key priorities.
Connecting OFII Companies with Economic Development Professionals
Early in the month we brought together more than 20 economic development professionals from across the country for a day of meaningful dialogue and planning activities for the FDI Frontlines Coalition - OFII’s new initiative to provide economic development professionals with unique business insights from insourcing companies. I would like to thank Alcatel-Lucent, Anheuser-Busch, Bombardier, GKN Aerospace, Daimler, Magna International, Relx Group, Tata Group, Wipro, and Volkswagen for participating in this meeting. I would also offer a very special thank you to Anurag Behar, Wipro’s chief sustainability officer, for sharing about his company's inspiring work in the United States, which is helping to improve STEM education. Wipro’s story is one among thousands throughout the country of U.S. subsidiaries engaging locally to help address their communities' needs.
Annual Capitol Hill Insourcing Reception
We held our fifth annual Insourcing Reception on Capitol Hill in early July as well. More than 250 people from Congress, the Administration, diplomatic community and global businesses came together to Discover FDI. At the event, we highlighted a crop of recent investment stories from around the country. The turnout was by far our best to date. Thank you to Congressmen Charles Boustany (R-LA), Ken Buck (R-CO), Bill Foster (D-IL), George Holding (R-NC), Derek Kilmer (D-WA), Glenn Thompson (R-PA), and Joe Wilson (R-SC) for attending our event.
