Danisco,
a U.S. subsidiary of a Danish ingredients company, announced
a $10 million expansion project in Madison. The expansion
is expected to increase local staff from 83 to 125.
Danisco is one of the world's leading producers of ingredients
for food and other consumer products. The new research
and development facility will be 18,000 square feet
in size, twice as large as the existing space. Danisco
will also add 12,300 square feet to its existing 55,000
square foot production facility. In Madison, Danisco's
major products are probiotic -- or live bacteria --
cultures, said to improve digestion and immunity to
certain diseases.
