Manufacturing companies tend to have a strong "multiplier" effect on the economy-stimulating a substantial amount of activity and jobs in other sectors through their demand for inputs from other suppliers. Overall, approximately 27.5% of jobs at U.S. subsidiaries in Vermont are in manufacturing industries.		ONE COMPANY'S STORY Tivoly, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of France-based Tivoly S.A., employs 160 people in Derby Lane. Tivoly is a manufacturer of high-speed cutting tools used in many industries, in particular the automotive, machine tool and metalworking industries. The company sells these products to retail distributors as well as industrial purchasers. While Vermont is the only U.S. state in which Tivoly operates, the company also has plants in France, Spain and Italy.
