MANUFACTURING JOB FACTS U.S. subsidiaries support 20,700 manufacturing jobs in Iowa. Manufacturing companies tend to have a strong "multiplier" effect on the economy-stimulating a substantial amount of activity and jobs in other sectors through their demand for inputs from other suppliers. Overall, approximately 55.3% of jobs at U.S. subsidiaries in Iowa are in manufacturing industries.		ONE COMPANY'S STORY Clarke America, a U.S. subsidiary of the UK-based Novar plc, has opened a new printing plant in Ankeny near Des Moines that is expected to create a total of 182 jobs. A leading provider of checks and check-related services, Clarke America will also create an estimated $16.5 million in revenue to the greater Des Moines area. The company provides its products and services to more than 4,000 institutions nationwide and is committed to its business investments in the Midwest and company executives hope the expansion will allow them to increase their business in the region.
