MANUFACTURING JOB FACTS

U.S. subsidiaries support 3,900 manufacturing jobs in Idaho, an increase of 11% over five years. Manufacturing companies tend to have a strong "multiplier" effect on the economy-stimulating a substantial amount of activity and jobs in other sectors through their demand for inputs from other suppliers.

Overall, approximately 31.2% of jobs at U.S. subsidiaries in Idaho are in manufacturing industries.


ONE COMPANY'S STORY

Glanbia Foods Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of the Irish company, recently dedicated a $38 million addition to its Gooding cheese plant, marking the plant’s third expansion. The company now employs 223 workers in Gooding and has additional operations in the state, with its headquarters in Twin Falls and another plant in Richfield. The new addition makes the Gooding plant one of the world’s largest cheese production facilities, with an annual capacity of 180 million pounds of American barrel cheese.
