over five years.

significant. They provide the livelihood for 2.2%
of South Dakota’s private-sector workforce.

manufacturing jobs in South Dakota. Manufacturing
companies tend to have a strong “multiplier” effect
on the economy—stimulating a substantial amount of
activity and jobs in other sectors through their demand
for inputs from other suppliers.

are supported by U.S. subsidiaries.

The AKG Group,
a U.S. subsidiary of a German-based manufacturer of
cooling systems and heat exchangers, opened an 80,000-square
foot facility in Mitchell, South Dakota. The $11.5 million
facility, which is expected to be up-and-running efficiently
by 2007, is the second U.S. expansion by AKG.
