Michelin North America

Greenville 
Michelin North America, is the U.S. operations of France-based Michelin, a world leader in the manufacturing of tires for cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs. Since March 10, 1975, when the very first American-built radial passenger tire came off the line at Michelin’s Greenville, S.C. plant, the company has only increased its presence in the state. U.S. headquartered in Greenville, the company employs over 7,750 workers state-wide at additional locations in Spartanburg, Laurens, Duncan, Lexington, Sandy Springs, and Starr, South Carolina.
 

BMW of North America

Spartanburg 
BMW of North America is the U.S. operations of Germany-based BMW Group, a manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles worldwide. In October 2010, the company celebrated the opening of its second U.S. assembly plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The $750 million expansion will support the production of the next generation X-3 Sports Activity Vehicle. The Spartanburg expansion included the assembly of a 1.2 million-square-foot assembly hall, a 300,000-square-foot paint shop addition and 1,600 new jobs. The expansion will centralize BMW’s expertise for its X models and eventually increase the plant’s output by 50 percent to 240,000 vehicles per year.
